Michael McLinden — Partner
Michael is the Strategy and Planning half of the Mc|K partnership. For nine years before starting Mc|K he headed up the Planning and Market Strategies group for the Boston office of Lowe Healthcare, the world’s third-largest medical marketing agency. In 2001, he was appointed Managing Director of the Boston practice.
During that time, he worked throughout the Lowe Healthcare group as a specialist in new technologies, including drug delivery, devices and diagnostics. He played a central role in the launch and relaunch of more than two dozen new technologies including drug-eluting stents, GERD repair, orthopedics, incontinence and prostate cancer.
He is a specialist biotechnology and bioprocessing, having worked on some of the world’s first DNA sequencing and synthesis technology, and at all levels of drug discovery and development for biotech companies.
In traditional pharmaceuticals, Michael has worked with a wide variety of brand-name drugs including those for seasonal rhinitis, migraine, AIDS wasting, bladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, cough and cold, resistant cough, and irritable bowel syndrome.
With all of his “high-science” credentials, it may be surprising to learn that Michael started his advertising career and received much of his training in strategy and positioning with the consumer hot shop of Mintz & Hoke. In stints as copywriter and creative director, he worked with such brands as Duracell, Saab, James River/Dixie, W.R. Grace and Stanley Works.
Michael holds an MBA from Tias Business School in the Netherlands where he studied Marketing with Rudy Moenaert and Strategy with Philippe Caldries. He also has an MSA in Operations from the Krannert School at Purdue University and a BA from the University of Connecticut.
